"My Top 5 Reasons To Work From Home"
I was sitting around the other day thinking about how different my life is today than five months ago. I'm still reminded of what a normal day at my old job used to look like.
I would roll out of bed at 6 am in the morning after having my horrible sounding alarm clock disturb me from a deep sleep. After rushing to eat breakfast and get ready, I would be logging into my computer at work by 7 am to be on time.
I would attach my head phones for the first time in what would be a very long day. After talking to one interesting (for lack of a better word) customer after another and watching the time tick by ever so slowly, 5 pm would finally arrive.
I would then proceed to walk out as quickly as possible to my car and screech out of the parking lot driving at speeds most people would not imagine. If you can't tell already I absolutely HATED my old job!
I hated the fact I had three different managers telling me what to do every day. I hated wasting my precious time working for a small paycheck, which at the time I thought was great because I could pay the bills I had.
But most of all, I hated the feeling of knowing that even though I could go home and enjoy a few precious moments, tomorrow I would be back in the same grind. My situation would not have changed, my debt load would not have gotten any smaller, and my life would continue to be something I would not enjoy.
This all changed permanently when I started marketing on the Internet. The life I live now involves working from home part time and making multiple five figures per month. As far as the quality of lifestyle my family and I get to live, the sky is really the only limit.
So I wanted to share with you today my top 5 reasons to work from home. I hope that they help in your journey towards finding your ideal work from home opportunity.
1. No Alarm Clocks
It is funny because the day I left my job for good, the first thing I did was come home and smash my alarm clock on the floor into little pieces! No kidding, it was a very liberating experience. And it highlighted the fact that I would now be able to wake up whenever I wanted.
I would no longer live my life by the schedule of another company. I would set my own schedule and it did not involve waking up until 9-10 am each morning.
2. No Commuting
If you have ever sat in your car in non-moving traffic for hours at a time, you will definitely love this one. How would you like for your commute to involve taking 10 steps from your living room to your office?
To not even have to take one step out of your home the entire day if you so wish? How's that for saving on gas each month! Well that is exactly what working from home will do for you.
What's even better is if you have to leave the house, you can go during the times when there is absolutely no traffic at all. So you get the best of both worlds with no stress whatsoever.
3. You Are Your Own Boss
This can mean many things to different people, but for me it meant I was setting my own schedule and living my life on my own terms. It also meant that if I wanted to take the day off, I could.
If my family wants to go on vacation that week, we do. We don't have to check the calendar or put in a request to be approved, we just book it and go have fun!
But best of all what this means is we are able to have time to give back together as a family. Something we definitely want to pass down to our daughter as she gets older.
4. More Tax Benefits
You have probably heard this one before, but when you work from home there are many tax benefits that you get to take advantage of that most people don't have when they work a regular job.
Whether it is deducting all expenses for your business, travel expenses, home office utilities, health insurance, and the list goes on and on. Be sure to consult with your accountant and they will help you get the most out of the benefits available.
5. Give Yourself A Raise Whenever You Want
I’m going back to being your own boss here. I thought I would leave this for last since it is the one I love the most.
I used to hate having to go in for a review every six months to figure out whether I was getting a 0.25 cent per hour raise. Well now I give myself a raise anytime I want.
If I want to make more money, I just do it. I don't have to ask anyone and most of the time I don't have to work any harder to get the raise either. I just continue to work from home smarter, not harder.
